How AI Extraction Works
Last updated: July 2025
Nabbo uses advanced AI to turn unstructured messages into clear, actionable items for your family. Here’s how it works.
What Nabbo Extracts
When you share a message, email, or voice note, Nabbo’s AI identifies:
- Events — activities with a date, time, and often a location (school trips, football practice, birthday parties)
- Tasks — things that need doing (sign a form, pack a lunch, buy supplies)
- Deadlines — dates by which something must happen (payment due, RSVP by, registration closes)
For each item, Nabbo extracts:
- Who — which family member is involved
- What — the activity or action
- When — date and time (or deadline)
- Where — location if mentioned
- Notes — extra details like what to bring, costs, links, or contact info
Confidence Levels
Nabbo assigns a confidence level to each extraction:
- High confidence — the information was clearly stated (explicit date, named person)
- Medium confidence — the AI inferred details from context (e.g. “next Friday” resolved to a specific date)
- Low confidence — the AI is less certain and flags the item for careful review
Items with high confidence may be auto-approved (if you’ve enabled that in Settings). Lower confidence items always appear in your review queue.
How to Review Items
After extraction, items appear in your Review tab:
- Approve — tap to confirm the item as-is and add it to your plan
- Edit — tap to adjust any detail (date, time, person, notes) before approving
- Dismiss — swipe to remove items that aren’t relevant
Change Detection
If you share a message that updates an existing item (e.g. “Football moved to 5pm” when you already have football at 4pm), Nabbo detects this and shows you what changed rather than creating a duplicate.
Multimodal Input
Nabbo doesn’t just read text. It can also process:
- Images — screenshots of messages, photos of flyers or notices
- PDFs — permission slips, school letters, booking confirmations
- Voice — natural speech converted to structured items
Tips for Best Results
- Forward the full email rather than copying fragments
- Include context when sharing screenshots (Nabbo reads surrounding text too)
- Speak in natural sentences when using voice input
- The more you use Nabbo, the better it learns your household’s patterns
